The Essiac formula is an immune system boosting herbal supplement, containing traditional medicinal herbs used by the Canadian Ojibwe. A nurse, Renee M. Caisse, was given the herbal combination by a patient, from which she developed an original formula using the herbs as a drinkable liquid. The Essiac traditional herbal medicine is available in either liquid or capsule form, in equal strength. You may find the Essiac Herbal Capsules are more convenient to take: ideal for use at work or while travelling.
Medicinal Ingredients
Burdock (Arctium lappa) P.E. 2, 5:1 or 360.76 mg = to 901.9 mg of root.
Indian rhubarb (Rheum officinale) P.E. 2, 5:1 or 12.2 mg = 30.7 mg of root.
Slippery elm bark (Ulmus fulva) P.E. 2, 5:1 or 27.4 mg = to 68.5 mg of bark.
Sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella) P.E. 2, 5:1 or 71.76 mg = to 179.4 mg of leaves.
Non-medicinal ingredients
vegetable magnesium stearate, maltodextrin, microcrystalline cellulose, cellulose (capsule).
Essiac Herbal Capsules are: gluten-free, non- irradiated, free of herbicides and pesticides, do not contain any animal products and are CGMP [Current Good Manufacturing Practices] compliant.
Suggested Usage:
Adult dosage: Take 2 to 4 capsules twice a day, either an hour before meals or 2 to 3 hours after. Or, take as recommended by a qualified healthcare professional. Consult a healthcare professional regarding long-term use.
Warnings
Not to be taken by pregnant women or nursing mothers. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if allergic to plants in the Asteracaea/Compositae/Daisy family. Do not take this formula if you have: arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, kidney stones, gastro intestinal disorders (including intestinal obstruction/appendicitis), Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis. Consult your healthcare practitioner prior to use if you: are diabetic, are on oral medication, or if you have symptoms that are persisting or worsening.
